The case studies presented under the Sowing Diversity equals Harvesting Security (SD=HS) Program in Laos from 2019-2022 showcase successful initiatives and outcomes in different provinces. The program has contributed to food security and economic well-being in the region.
There are a total of six case studies that highlight the success of employing high-quality plant varieties, the achievements of youth farmers in sustainable agricultural practices, and the success of the Farmer Field School (FFS) in improving rice varieties in different provinces in Laos. The other case studies emphasize the avenues of income generation through FFS as a tool, achievements of the FFS in Attapeu Province, and highlight how families are surviving and thriving through vegetable cultivation.
These case studies collectively demonstrate the effectiveness of the SD=HS Program in fostering agricultural diversity, empowering farmers, and ensuring food security across various provinces in Laos. The initiatives discussed showcase the program’s positive impact on both individual farmers and broader agricultural communities.
