No patent on Seeds in NL
On May 16th, Oxfam Novib colleagues were joined by the No Patents on Seed team to deliver a new report on the alarming state of patents in Europe to the European Patent Office in the Hague. This was followed by a stakeholder meeting including members of parliament. Nout is your contact person if you have questions.

Workshops in Nigeria and Mali
Workshops took place in the frame of the Crop Diversity for Food Security pilot to strengthen local seed systems in fragile contexts. This is to explore whether seed supply can be improved (quality, diversity, stability of supply) under conditions of political unrest and climate change-induced food insecurity.

CTDT Zambia looks back on funders’ visits
Back in March Sida visited CTDT Zambia, and the Hans Geveling foundation followed suit. The foundation supported the construction of 3 community seed banks, contributing to seed availability, access and income generation for smallholder farmers.

🥳 Congrats to our colleagues from CTDT Zimbabwe and from NAFRI in Laos for being selected for grants under the Benefit Sharing Fund of the International Plant Treaty!
👏 Congrats to SD=HS teams in Uganda and the Netherlands for the approval of their concept note by NORAD! Good luck with the proposal development

5 – 9 June – Books4Life meeting in Zimbabwe
The meeting of Books4Life takes place in Zimbabwe with participants from Zambia and Uganda. Our new project lead, Eco Matser is also there. Contact Myrthe for more is information.
22 June (new date) – Webinar on Land rights & Gender in SD=HS – 14.00-15.30 CEST
What are the linkages between women, seeds and land? Colleagues from Nepal, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Peru lead scoping work to answer the quesiton in their context. They will present their findings in this webinar. Contact Stephanie for any questions.

No a las patentes sobre semillas en NL
El 16 de mayo, los colegas de Oxfam Novib se unieron al equipo de No Patents on Seed para entregar un nuevo informe sobre el alarmante estado de las patentes en Europa a la Oficina Europea de Patentes en La Haya. A continuación se realizó una reunión con las partes interesadas, incluidos miembros del Parlamento. Nout es su persona de contacto si tiene alguna pregunta.

Talleres de ECAs en Nigeria y Mali
Los talleres se realizaron en el marco del proyecto piloto Diversidad de Cultivos para la Seguridad Alimentaria, destinado a reforzar los sistemas locales de semillas en contextos frágiles. Se trata de explorar si se puede mejorar el suministro de semillas (calidad, diversidad, estabilidad del suministro) en condiciones de inestabilidad política e inseguridad alimentaria inducida por el cambio climático.

CTDT Zambia repasa las visitas de los financiadores
En marzo, Sida visitó CTDT Zambia, y la fundación Hans Geveling le siguió paso. La fundación apoyó la construcción de 3 bancos de semillas comunitarios, contribuyendo a la disponibilidad de semillas, el acceso a las mismas y la generación de ingresos para los pequeños agricultores.

🥳 ¡Felicidades a nuestros colegas del CTDT de Zimbabue y del NAFRI de Laos por haber sido seleccionados para recibir fondos del Fondo de Distribución de Beneficios del Tratado Internacional sobre las Plantas!
👏 ¡Felicidades a los equipos de SD=HS en Uganda y los Países Bajos por la aprobación de su nota conceptual por NORAD! Buena suerte con el desarrollo de la propuesta.
