Traditional native seed systems
FOVIDA published a study on the design of mechanism to recognize and manage the sustainability of traditional native seed systems from agrobiodiversity zones. The study seeks to outline a mechanism in line with the valuations of biodiverse, conservationist and traditional systems of peasant family farming.

Mainstreaming Community Seed Banks
The Nepalese Department of Agriculture published “Community Seed Bank: Establishment, Strengthening and Operation”, a manual based on past and present experiences promoting community seeds banks. LI-BIRD Nepal facilitated the development process in collaboration with governmental agencies (CCDABC & NAGRC). The concept of farmer seed enterprise development is strategized to ensure the sustainability of the community seed banks.

22 to 27 January – Wageningen and Oxfam Novib course
A total of 7 colleagues will travel to the Netherlands to take part in a course on smallholder seed systems
25 January – Learning session: How to demonstrate results? – 14h to 15.30h
How can we measure results and demonstrate what we do better? We will take the gender journey module as a basis for a discussion and presentation from two cases. If you wish to present a case, please contact Stephanie.
26 January – Symposium Seed Systems of the Future – 13.30h to 18h – Wageningen
Symposium to preserve the legacy of seed systems research and education at Wageningen University and Research.

Sida escribe sobre la contribución de SD=HS
A raíz de la Conferencia sobre Biodiversidad, Sida escribió un artículo sobre la importancia de los bancos de semillas para la alimentación y la biodiversidad. Se centra en la agricultora y facilitadora Hellen Akello, del norte de Uganda. Gracias a Andrew Adem por la coordinación.

Sistemas tradicionales de semillas nativas
FOVIDA publica un estudio sobre un mecanismo de reconocimiento y de gestión de la sostenibilidad de los sistemas tradicionales de semillas nativas que proceden de zonas de agrobiodiversidad. El estudio busca delinear un mecanismo acorde a las valoraciones de sistemas biodiversos, conservacionistas y tradicionales de la agricultura familiar campesina.

Integración de los Bancos Comunitarios de Semillas
El Departamento de Agricultura del Gobierno nepalí publicó “Bancos Comunitarios de Semillas: Establecimiento, fortalecimiento y funcionamiento”, un manual basado en experiencias pasadas y presentes de promoción de bancos de semillas comunitarios. LI-BIRD Nepal facilitó el proceso de desarrollo en colaboración con agencias gubernamentales (CCDABC & NAGRC). Para garantizar la sostenibilidad de los bancos de semillas comunitarios, se ha elaborado una estrategia para el desarrollo de empresas de semillas de agricultores.

Un total de 7 colegas viajarán a los Países Bajos para participar en un curso sobre sistemas de semillas de pequeños agricultores.
25 de enero – Sesión de aprendizaje: ¿Cómo demostrar resultados? – 14h a 15.30h
¿Cómo podemos medir los resultados y demostrar mejor lo que hacemos? Tomaremos como base el módulo del viaje de género para debatir y presentar dos casos. Si quieres presentar un caso, contacta a Stephanie.
